Responsible environmental and family policy
I am an architect and a Member of the Tampere City Council. I work to develop Tampere into a climate-friendly city where people of all ages can live well. I am particularly committed to advancing environmental sustainability and strengthening the everyday lives of families with children.
In my view, environmental responsibility must be integrated into all decision-making in Tampere: urban planning and transport systems, construction, energy production, and public procurement. In practice, this means ensuring that services are located close to residents, that it is safe for children to walk or cycle to school, and that nature and biodiversity are cared for responsibly.
The position of families with children must continue to be strengthened. Family services should focus on promoting well-being and preventing problems before they grow. When challenges arise, support needs to be available quickly and at a low threshold. It is also essential that early childhood education is accessible close to home and that there are enough qualified professionals working with children.
I base my decisions on researched knowledge rather than assumptions. I am also prepared to question my own views and consider issues from multiple perspectives. I believe these are essential qualities in responsible public decision-making.
